What's in season - May

Slowly the spring larder is beginning to fill up. More veg available this month and asparagus season will now be well underway. Wild garlic will just be finishing so make the most of it. This month heralds the start of lighter and brighter eating, out with the stews and heavy soups, in with salads and greens. 


Vegetables
Asparagus, broccoli, carrots, jersey royal new potatoes, lettuce & salad leaves, new potatoes, peas, radishes, rocket, samphire, spinach, spring onions, watercress, wild garlic,  wild nettles

Fruit
Bananas (Windward) , kiwi fruit, rhubarb

Herbs
Basil, chervil, chives, coriander, dill, oregano, mint, nasturtium, parsley (curly), rosemary, sage, sorrel, tarragon

Meat
Lamb, wood pigeon

Fish
Cod, coley, crab, haddock, langoustine, plaice, prawns, salmon, sardines, sea trout, shrimp, whelks, whitebait
