Restaurants - my little black book

By May 22, 2015 , , ,

Like any foodie I like to eat out, a lot, at least once a week if I can on average. So after a while you start to amass quite a list of favourite places to go. My list here in the Netherlands is proving a slow process but it's getting there, but my list in the UK is well established after 18 years of dining out.

Now I mentioned in the title a little black book but I actually have a large black book and in this book I have menus from all the Michelin stared places where I had a really good meal. There are quite a few places that didn't make the book because even with a Michelin star they weren't that great. The book isn't exclusively all UK restaurants but from places around the world. As much as I'd like to, I don't exclusively dine at Michelin star places all the time. In the past 10 years I've found some real gems, starred and non starred in the UK and London which I'd like to share with you.

When I left the UK I put together a list of restaurants for friends that were part of a dining club that I started, known as "Grub Club". We used to meet once a month and go somewhere nice to eat.Tthe highlight of those trips was a suckling pig feast at St John in Smithfield, London. I'd like to share that list with you so those readers in the UK might benefit and those possibly planning to visit the UK might like to know some useful addresses. I've tried to break down the list into types of cuisine, the majority of the restaurants are in London but I've also included some of my favourites out of London that are well worth travelling for.
